The SGS Research Library
Welcome to the Seattle Genealogical Society Library. At SGS we offer a wealth of important genealogical resources for the family history researcher. Although we focus on the Pacific Northwest region, our library is not limited to resources for this region. Our collection includes genealogical books, maps, and digital materials for all states, Canada, Europe and other international regions. We also have access to subscription databases Ancestry.com, Fold3, Newspapers.com, American Ancestors and historygeo.com. Search our catalog for that special resource you need.
S.jpg) GS is a Family Search Affiliate Library
The Seattle Genealogical Society is an Affiliate Library for the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and FamilySearch.org. This means that when you are inside our library using either your own computer or one of our patron computers you will be able to access some "locked" records on FamilySearch.org. To view the locked records you will be prompted to sign in to your own account. If you don't already have an account you may create a free account through FamilySearch.org.
 Library CollectionThe SGS collection complements resources available through the Seattle Public Library's genealogy collection and other online resources such as Family Search.org and Open Library, to name a few.

The Pacific Northwest Collection encompasses Seattle, King County, Washington State as well as Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and British Columbia.

Fa mily Histories
The Family Histories collection includes published volumes and collections of family genealogy materials, cataloged by primary surname.

Com puter Resources
The Library has four computer workstations for patrons to use to access Ancestry's World Explorer, Fold3, Newspapers.com Extra, American Ancestors (NEHGS), historygeo.com FindMyPast and our digital holdings. Wireless internet access is available for those who bring their own portable computers.

Sc anning Resources
Library patrons may use of two machines to scan papers, photos, fragile items, albums and books. Be sure to bring a flashdrive to save the scanned materials.

Visit the Library
The SGS Library is located in Suite 302 at the historic Good Shepherd Center in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. Our holdings DO NOT CIRCULATE. There are no membership requirements or usage fees associated with using the resources in our library.

Fri: 10 am - 3 pm
